The acclaimed UK star Dame Helen, currently holder of an Academy Award, multiple Bafta awards, three Golden Globes, five Emmy Awards, and a Tony, is poised to receive another prestigious accolade to her shelf: the Cecil B DeMille Globes' career honor.

Ceremony Details

Dame Helen, eighty, previously made a dame back in 2003 and named a BAFTA fellow in the year 2014, will receive this honor during a presentation January 8, shortly before the Golden Globes main event occur, during an event billed by the organization as the Golden Eve event.

Additionally featuring the bestowal of the Globes’ Carol Burnett honor for TV work, the honoree for which has yet to be announced. Previous recipients featured Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Dame Helen represents a force of nature, and her professional journey is truly exceptional,” stated the organization’s president, Helen Hoehne. “Her brilliant portrayals and dedication to acting persistently influence numerous actors and fans too. It’s a tremendous privilege to bestow upon her this lifetime achievement honor.”

Notable Roles

Mirren rose to fame in the 1970s through significant parts in stage productions in the West End of London and with the Royal Shakespeare Company and in cinematic works like O Lucky Man!, Caligula and The Long Good Friday.

During the nineties, her lead performance in the investigative show Prime Suspect increased her popularity further. Other important films include Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park and Calendar Girls.

She earned an Academy Award for her performance as Queen Elizabeth II in the cinematic work The Queen, a role she revisited in 2013 within The Audience, Peter Morgan’s play regarding the encounters involving the monarch and the PM Thatcher, a role for which she received a Tony Award in 2015.

Recent and Upcoming Projects

• Subsequent cinematic works feature Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda and Barbie, which she narrated.
• Her role in the Netflix version for The Thursday Murder Club has garnered acclaim with award talk is building around her performance as a dying matriarch in the film by Kate Winslet initial directorial project, Goodbye June.
• In the coming year, she will appear in the role of Patricia Highsmith in Anton Corbijn’s drama, Switzerland.

Golden Globe nominations will be announced on 8 December, featuring the film by Paul Thomas Anderson One Battle After Another, Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners expected to feature heavily.
